5 Minute Breakfast on the Go

Toni 5 minute breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but sometimes it just doesn't fit into our schedule the way it should.

How we begin the day will determine how the rest of the day goes. It will determine if we feel energetic and focused, or if we slog through the day just trying to figure out what to do next. What we put in our bellies directly relates to how well we feel. So if you are a “skip breakfast and grab the coffee person” then this post is totally for you.

We all need and crave energy, I know I do!

It is so easy to just grab a quick bowl of cereal or skip breakfast and get through the morning on 1-2 cups of coffee. I’m not going to tell you to stop drinking coffee if you’re a coffee drinker; that would be ridiculous! But that sense of energy you get from the bowl of cereal or from the coffee is short lived. I don't want you to go on the "crash and crave" roller coaster for the entire day. If you begin your morning with caffeinated coffee or sugar you will crash, and you will be reaching for another hit of sugar or cup of coffee to get through a few more hours.

You might be surviving your day, but who wants to just survive? Let’s choose to thrive, not survive!

Smoothies are one quick alternative for a fast breakfast that can help energize us throughout the entire day. When you toss in some greens, a little fruit, and a healthy liquid like coconut water or coconut milk, you are bound to feel energetic and ready to take on the day. Starting the day with a smoothie can also give you much-needed antioxidants to help protect our bodies from free radicals and inflammation. A properly made smoothie is also a great low-glycemic treat that will help curb your sugar cravings for the entire day and prevent those darn energy crashes.

Next time you want a quick breakfast, try a delicious smoothie that will leave you feeling energized and motivated. To make things even easier in the morning, try making your smoothie the night before. You can refrigerate or freeze it to enjoy in the morning. A morning smoothie will provide your body with the nutrients it needs to produce energy and boost your metabolism naturally. So what are you reaching for tomorrow morning? I know I will be pulling out my blender and getting ready for some long lasting energy.

Here’s one of my all-time favorite smoothie recipes. Let me know what you think!
